This is a two bean speciality blend composed of two Rwandan Washed Red Bourbon lots from Cyesha and Rugali.
First, Cyesha Washing Station, founded in 2022, collaborates with 470 skilled smallholders, ensuring meticulous care in the coffee-making process. Located at an altitude of 1450-1750 meters above sea level and surrounded by the landscape near Lake Kivu, this area has the advantage of volcanic soil and high-altitude conditions, giving a unique flavour to the beans. The ideal wind flow from the lake through the surrounding hills ensures optimal coffee drying, making Cyesha’s offerings truly exceptional.
Second, we have Rugali Washing Station is more than just a coffee station; it has become a symbol of innovation within Rwandan coffee. The successful expansion of its production capacity has turned it into a best-practice model for new washing stations in Nyamasheke. The station’s role in the community goes beyond coffee processing—it fosters economic activity and knowledge-sharing, helping farmers enhance their techniques and improve their livelihoods. Beyond coffee, Rugali serves as a hub for surrounding communities. Every week, it hosts a bustling farmers’ market where locals sell fresh and organic produce. A perfect example for the momentum and rise of Rwandan specialty coffee.
