Often overlooked, poorly maintained machinery could be the missing link in your chain to best quality coffee. Used and abused machinery gets in the way of making good coffee – no matter how good your coffee and baristas are you need a good engine for the best performance. In this course we examine the essential maintenance routines you should be performing to get the best out of your coffee and the longest life out of your machinery:
– why water is so important: focus on water quality and filtration, when and how to change your water filter.
– Getting to know your grinder: cleaning it, when and how to change your burrs. Bring your own if you like.
– Basic machine maintenance: proper daily cleaning rituals, when and how to change then seals and shower screens.
– Looking under the bonnet: what goes on inside an espresso machine and how they differ in operation. La Marzocco, Astoria, Gaggia. Nuova Simonelli.
