The birth place of Coffee is Ethiopia. Of all the coffee producing countries in the world Ethiopia must have the most variety. Washed coffees from Ethiopia tend to be very light with brilliant acidity, whereas the Naturals tend to be very rich and fruity. Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya tend to produce coffees with brilliant berry profiles – think raspberry, redberry & blueberry.
Home as well to the raised African Bed method of drying coffee, which promotes great body as well as acidty. Varietals tend to stay in the region of heirloom Ethiopians, but then some very successful hybrids are common in Kenya and more to the East.
